A naming ceremony is to celebrate and welcome a special someone into your family.  This may be a new baby, an older child, a step child or a child whom you have adopted.

A naming ceremony is non-religious and is personalised to your situation.  There are often promises made by the parents/ guardians and may also include other supporting adults who may be asked to play a role in the child’s life.

Symbolic actions such as mixing coloured sands, lighting a candle or planting a tree can take place within the ceremony.  Readings, poems, music or any other entertainment of your choice could also be included.

A naming ceremony can take place in a hired function room or you might choose to host it in your own home or garden.
